Narrative

The Bonnet-t-e's & Kin, Vol. 18, pp. 1-7, 1994. This family moved to the Cedar Creek area of Frederick County, Virginia, later Hampshire County, West Virginia, where there exists a land patent to Samuel dated 1766 (purchase of 205 acres of land). This land on the South Branch (of the Potomac River) was sold in 1777 (another source says the land was leased to David Myles). The family, with the exception of son Henry, then moved over the mountains to Harrison County, (West) Virginia, by 1785 when he obtained a land grant there (44 acres in Monogalia County, later Harrison County). Samuel apparently died from the fall of a tree. The Bonnet-t-e's & Kin, Vol. 18, pp. 1-7, 1994. From Recollections of Lewis Bonnett, Jr. (1778-1850). Samuel took charge of the family upon the death of the parents, moving them to Virginia, settling on the South Branch (of the Potomac River). Sims Index to Land Grants, West Virginia.
