Howard T. Bonnett, letter 24 November 1995. Samuel Bonnett's testimony concerning the Revolutionary War service of brothers Lewis, Jacob, and Peter led to revocation of the pensions which had been awarded to them. Journal of the House of Representatives 22nd Congress, 2nd Session, Tuesday, 11 December 1832, p. 26, petition of Samuel Bonnett, Jacob Bonnett, Adam Flesher, and others, all of Virginia, was presented by Mr. Maxwell. Referred to the Committee on Invalid Petitions. V.D. White 1990, Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files. Also R.B. Johnson 1959, West Virginians in the American Revolution. Samuel, brother of Lewis Bonnett was aged 71 in 1834. File BAKQ7EA on GenServ, May 1997. Born Cedar Creek Swamp, Frederick County, Virginia. 1810 Virginia census, Harrison County, p. 101: Samuel Bonnett, age 26-45 as is his wife. Eight children indicated, 2 males of age 0-10, 2 males 10-16, and 4 females of age 0-10. Brother Peter Bonnett also appears on this census in this county. 1820 Virginia census, Lewis County, p. 145A: Samuel Bonnet, age >45, with wife of age 26-45. Three other males of ages 0-10, 16-18, and 16-26. Seven females of ages 0-10, 0-10, 0-10, 0-10, 10-16, 10-16, and 16-26. A second Samuel Bonnet of age 16-26 appears in this census. 1830 Virginia census, Lewis County, p. 232: Samuel Bonnet, age 50- 60, with wife of same age. Three male children of ages 5-10, 15-20, and 20-30. Three females of ages 10-15, 15-20, and 15-20. (Note concerning the 1830 Virginia census index: 10 Bonnett households are found in the index.
