The Bonnet-t-e's & Kin, Vol. 18, pp. 1-7, 1994. Service in War of 1812 with Capt. John Bozarth's Company, 5th Regiment of Infantry, Virginia Militia. Drafted in Lewis County, Virginia, and mustered out at Norfolk, Virginia. Phillip Bonnett came to Iowa about 1836, following his brothers Lewis and Peter who had left (West) Virginia a year or so earlier. File BAKQ7EA on GenServ, May 1997. Born Cedar Creek Swamp, Frederick County, Virginia. 1820 Virginia census, Lewis County, p. 145A: Philip Bonnet, age over 45, with wife of age 16-26; one male child of age <10; and three female children of ages <10, <10, and <10. 1830 Virginia census, Lewis County, p. 230: Philip Bonnet, age 50- 60, with wife of age 30-40; one male child of age 5-10; and two female children of ages 10-15 and 10-15. 1840 Iowa census, Jefferson County, p. 285: Philip Bonnett, age 60- 70, with wife of age 40-50. Also in household is 1 male child age 15- 20 and 1 other female of age 20-30. 1850 Iowa census, Cedar Township, Jefferson County. In household of son-in-law Henry Penninger. 1856 Iowa state census, Jefferson County, Cedar Township p. 34. Philip Bonnett 80 Virginia.
