It was 2A of the land Elizabeth sold to Thornton Bridgeman (11/16/1870) which he later deeded the land, 2 acres, for a public cemetery. Elijah's grave is marked by a huge granite stone with no markings. The cemetery is near the crossroads of Gryder's Corner and Highways 2& 534. (Gryders Corner is named after Hiram Gryder and his wife Mary Dora (Hays) Gryder who had a General Store at this location). Elizabeth and Elijah's son, Rev. Needham York Groom, married the daughter of the Gryders, Margaret (Gryder) Groom.
IV. RESEARCH DONE BY:
Mrs. Willena (Groom), descendant of Charles Groom, grandaughter of Rev. Needham York Groom and daughter of Frank Groom, researched all the early records of the Groom family in Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. She found much of the material on Elijah Groom 11 and Elizabeth (Bryan) Groom in Louisiana. I am also indebted to many of Indiana (Groom) Dean's descendants who are still living in Louisiana.
COMPILER: LOMA (GROOM)HARRISON, descendant of NEEDHAM YORK GROOM.
